Fans are to blame, too
Let's stop with the "poor fan" talk in the baseball debates. The "poor fan" only attends games when his team is winning. The only fans who support a loser do so in Wrigley Field. Owners know they must field a winner to fill the seats. Players know they can get the big bucks if they are good. Fans complain when their team doesn't pay big dollars for the star of their choice, then complain that some other team overpaid the same player. Until fans are happy to watch baseball, win or lose, the players will get richer, the owners will lie more and eventually baseball as we know it will destroy itself.
