NEW JERSEY DEVILS: C Bobby Holik has spurned several offers from G.M. Lou Lamoriello to re-sign. Holik wants a five-year deal worth at least $7.5 million a season, and Lamoriello is unlikely to ante up. Lamoriello wants veteran Stephane Richer to return. Even though the Devils need offense, don't look for Lamoriello to bring in a flee agent unless it is through a trade. Restricted: C Scott Gomez, RW Jamie Langenbrunner, LW Jay Pandolfo. Unrestricted: Holik, RW Valeri Kamensky, C Sergei Nemchinov, D Scott Stevens, LW Richer, G John Vanbiesbrouck.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS: G.M. Mike Milbury will make a play for RW Tony Amonte to add depth up front and get his team past the first round of the playoffs. Milbury will also look for help to lessen the load on overworked Ds Adrian Aucoin, Roman Hamrlik and Kenny Jonsson. Signing Aucoin, who blossomed last season, is a priority. Restricted: D Aucoin, D Eric Cairns, C Mats Lindgren, RW Kip Miller, RW Mark Parrish, C Dave Scatchard, RW Steve Webb. Unrestricted: none.

NEW YORK RANGERS: You name him, and G.M. Glen Sather, whose team finished with the league's highest payroll but out of the playoffs, wants him: Bobby Holik, Curtis Joseph, Bill Guerin, Chris Chelios, Tony Amonte ... the list goes on. Sather has a realistic shot at all of them. If he does land at least three from that list, RW Theo Fleury will be cut. Fleury has said if the Rangers don't pick up his $7 million option, he would consider resigning for less. Sather likely will resign Mark Messier and must decide on D Bryan Berard's contract option. Restricted: RW Radek Dvorak, LW Michal Grosek, D Dale Purinton, D Richard Lintner, D Tom Poti, D Datum Van Impe. Unrestricted: Messier, G Mike Richter, LW Martin Rucinsky.

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS: G.M. Bob Clarke will be shopping for a goaltender and scoring depth up front. But he also might be looking to change the makeup of his aging team by adding youth. RW Rick Tocchet might retire. Restricted: G Brian Boucher, LW Donald Brashear, RW Simon Gagne, C Marty Murray. Unrestricted: C Adam Oates, D Luke Richardson, Tocchet.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS: G.M. Craig Patrick won't be very active, hut he would like to re-sign C Robert Lang. Negotiations got off to a chilly start, however, when Patrick refused to speak to Lang's new agent without formal notification from Lang. Owner/player C Mario Lemeiux, who paid himself a $5.25 million salary in 2001-02, won't be going anywhere. Restricted: G Jean-Sebastien Aubin, D Rick Betty, D Andrew Ference, LW Dan LaCouture, RW Alexei Morozov, LW Krzysztof Oliwa, LW Ville Nieminen. Unrestricted: Lang, Lemieux.
