When I overheard a couple of crew guys complaining about the grind of the second half of the season, it didn't dawn on me at first that they were talking about the Winston Cup schedule for next year. Once again, the season will close with races on 20 consecutive weekends, beginning in July at Daytona and ending in November at Homestead.

Is it asking too much of the wise men of NASCAR, to break up that ridiculously demanding stretch?
