Plate rules must change before Talladega. (Insider: NASCAR).
Does NASCAR really want this nonsense to continue? A 24-car pileup with fewer than 25 laps to go in April at Talladega. An 18-car mess with a little more than 50 laps to go in February at Daytona. So, what's in store Saturday night for the third demolition derby ... ahem, restrictor-plate race ... of the season?
Chances are, another big wreck.
NASCAR officials should have gone back to the drawing board immediately after the Daytona 500. It was obvious the tweaking that was done to restrictor-plate rules in the offseason wasn't the answer. However, the same rules package was used at Talladega and will be used again this weekend at Daytona.
