Probably the best thing about this disc is its sound. Not that the music isn't fun, too, coming from the collaborators who brought us My Fair Lady, Camelot, Gigi, Brigadoon, and Paint Your Wagon. You'll find selections from all five musicals here, done in sprightly style, but, more important, you'll find good, pit-orchestra audio.
Richard Hayman conducts with a flourish, as though he's been doing it all his life. OK, he HAS been doing it all his life, but that's beside the point. He does it well. The guy's got over two dozen recordings to his credit, mostly with his pops orchestra doing light classical and Broadway material. Here, he presents three longer medleys--from My Fair Lady, Gigi, and Camelot--and a number of shorter selections from the other musicals mentioned.
