A key coding system that will be critical to health information systems will be implemented by Thai Medical Informatics (TMI) next month.

The standard is based on an international classification system and will be known as ICD-10-TM (Thai Modification).

According to Assistant Professor Dr Wansa Paoin from Thammasat University's Faculty of Medicine, classification is one of four fundamental components of a medical information system. The other three are health data definitions, datasets, and a data interchange protocol.
