The NUJ chapel at the Northcliffe-owned Bristol Evening Post has voted to ballot for industrial action over threatened job cuts.

Union members at the paper voted for the strike ballot after the NUJ said management at Northcliffe, the regional newspaper arm of the Daily Mail & General Trust, had refused to answer "legitimate questions" about its plans for job cuts.

Bristol Evening Post staff have been told only that there would be redundancies by Christmas, but the company would not reveal whether these would be compulsory and what the selection criteria would be, according to the NUJ.
