The Japanese government has decided to release $8 million out of $20 million already committed as emergency relief grant to the United Nations for those affected by the large-scale earthquake in Pakistan.

A press statement issued here on Wednesday said that out of $20 million, $12 million are pledged as assistance on a bilateral basis.

The amount of $8 million would be pledged to the UN organs receiving emergency grant assistance, including World Food Programme (WFP); $2.5 million, United Nations Children's Fund; (Unicef), $2.5 million; United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), $1 million; World Health Organisation (WHO), $1 million; and International Organisation for Migration ...
