The chairman of an ethics committee investigating corruption allegations in Brazil's Congress said Wednesday that his phones have been illegally tapped.
Rep. Ricardo Izar said in an interview with Radio Bandeirantes that his phones were bugged about a week ago, and that federal police were investigating who was behind the phone taps.
"I don't know who would be interested in this," Izar said.
He said he became suspicious that his phone lines were being monitored after he experienced repeated problems with the lines.
