Abomb exploded near the entrance of the temple of revered monk Luangta Maha Bua Yannasampanno yesterday. There were no injuries.

Local police and a bomb clearance team from Seni Ronnayuth Camp rushed to the area and found a hole, about a metre in diameter, pieces of dry battery cells and black plastic bags. The blast is thought to have been caused by TNT.

They also found placards bearing messages from opponents of media tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul, whose newspaper quoted the monk's sermon accusing Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of being power-hungry.
