What happens when a hip, 28-year-old sophisticated city chick who favors fashion-forward Balenciaga tops and cool Earnest Sewn jeans is to be married in a traditional, high-Palm Beach church and grand country-club wedding?

At best, the selection of her wedding dress becomes a comedy of errors; at worst, it's an odyssey of high-style stakes and drama. "Well, it was an education," Eleanor Lembo, now Eleanor Ylvisaker, wife of the financier Jon Ylvisaker, says, and laughs, when I call on the new bride at the couple's airy, one-bedroom apartment in SoHo.
