SYDNEY, April 2 Asia Pulse - A Chinese fighter aircraft crashed and a US surveillance plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Chinese soil following a mid-air collision over the South China Sea last night.
US Pacific command chief Admiral Dennis Blair was quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) as saying the EP-3 surveillance aircraft was in international air space about 112 km off the Chinese island of Hainan, far from the 19km zone around the island which is considered to be Chinese air space, when it was intercepted by two Chinese F-8 jets.
