PINGTUNG COUNTY, April 2 Asia Pulse - Premier Chang Chun-hsiung said Saturday that the government will redouble its efforts to carry out domestic public construction projects so as to help boost the sluggish economy.
The Executive Yuan has recently earmarked NT$810 billion (US$24.7 billion) to finance a public construction package aimed at speeding up domestic economic recovery, Chang pointed out.
"If the implementation rate of the proposed public construction investment projects can reach 90 percent by the end of the year, it will speed up the revitalization of the domestic economy and create more employment opportunities for our compatriots," he went on.
Chang made the remarks while presiding over an inauguration ceremony for the reopened Kaoping Bridge connecting the counties of Kaohsiung and Pingtung in southern Taiwan.
