NEW DELHI, April 2 Asia Pulse - The northern state of Rajasthan on Friday committed to begin privatisation of power distribution by the year end, and transfer electricity subsidies to state budget.
Rajathan, which signed an agreement with the federal power ministry to undertake reforms in the sector, also committed to 100 per cent metering of electricity by June 2002 and the proceeds of privatisation would be redeployed in the power sector, an official release said here.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the joint secretary (Power), P I Suvarathan, and the Rajasthan energy secretary, C S Rajan.
