COLOMBO, April 2 Asia Pulse - Asia Pulse - South Asian women entrepreneurs have floated their own business council to bring women-owned businesses to the economic mainstream and ensure greater access to capital.
"This marks the advent of a new era in the history of the SAARC nations, and has years of struggle behind it. It will not be bogged down by politics," said Salma Ahmed of Pakistan at the launch of the SAARC Women Entrepreneurs Council (SWEC).
The need for SWEC arose as women-owned businesses often operated outside the economic mainstream and was excluded from the circle of information on available resources and opportunities, the organisers said.
