Version 5.5 of Fluent, the computational fluid dynamics software from Fluent Inc., offers new features and enhancements in areas including solvers, physical model post processing, and file import/export. Fluent also now comes with an option of running with GT-Power, a gas dynamics and engine simulation program from Gamma Technologies. When Fluent is coupled to GT-Power, users can integrate the former's CFD flow modeling of individual components with the latter's system-level simulation capabilities for better overall engine simulation. Coupling can currently take place in the following areas: velocity inlet, mass flow inlet, pressure inlet, and pressure outlet.

Fluent 5.5 also features a new algorithm for particle-path integration that will improve particle-tracking accuracy. In addition, users can now work with up to 50 (the previous limit was 20) species transport equations ...
