TOKYO, May 1 Asia Pulse - Bank of Japan Governor Masaru Hayami has decided to resign as early as this May, well ahead of the expiration of his term in March 2003, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun learned Friday.
Toshihiko Fukui, a former deputy governor of the BOJ, appears to be the most likely replacement. Fukui is currently chairman of the Fujitsu Research Institute, a private think tank.
