Pirates hire Primerano as AD.(SPORTS)

Since Port Charlotte High School opened in 1981, the position of director of athletics has been a revolving door.

The Pirates administration hopes the door is slammed shut with the appointment of Mark Primerano.

"I've been around sports all my life," Primerano said. "After 16 years in the classroom, I felt it was time for a change."

Port Charlotte hired Primerano, a teacher and coach at L.A. Ainger Middle School in Englewood, as its athletics director. Primerano, who will take over officially in the fall, replaces John LeClair, who had the position on an interim basis. LeClair stepped in for Don Sanford at the beginning of the calendar year.
