How do you choose a baseball cap that will last longer than spring training?
We tested 13 caps, from $6.50 to $22, looking at fit, construction, and how well the cap cleaned up. (It's news to a lot of people that many caps can be washed.) In general, we found that midpriced caps, ranging from $10 to $14, offered the best combination of good construction and good value. When you're shopping, consider these details:
Stabilizers. Look under the sweatband to see what's used to keep the fabric from stretching or curling. In our tests, plastic stabilizers held up best in laundering.
