Equifax Inc. has launched its first online credit score delivery service, Score Power, increasing consumer access to information about the health of their credit habits.
"We developed the product in conjunction with Fair Isaac, (San Rafael, Calif.) feeling that we needed to develop it with the company that has the score that is used by most lenders," said Rich Crutchfield, executive vice president and group executive of Equifax.
There will be two ports of entry into the Score Power service, via equifax.com and myfico.com.
Through the service, "we will be able to authenticate the consumer, pull the credit file, display the credit file, develop the score, and send the score and certain attributes back to them (the four reasons for the score) ... not the entire credit file," said Mr. Crutchfield.
The authentication of a consumer is a two-step process. When a consumer comes to the site, they must enter in basic information including name, address, telephone number, drivers license, social security, etc. - - what Mr. Crutchfield calls "wallet data."
