Rumors have been swirling this month about possible mergers and acquisitions among mortgage technology players, particularly as the industry waits for the shoe to drop in the wake of Microsoft's announced intention to find a buyer for the Tuttle Decision Systems piece of its HomeAdvisor Technologies Inc.
Possible purchasers mentioned by various industry sources include ALLTEL, Fiserv Unifi Products, the Wendover subsidiary of EDS and Freddie Mac. A Fiserv spokeswoman last week denied reports a deal was imminent.
Freddie's Goldcash Xtra has long been managed by Tuttle's LockpointXtra division, and various sources have said Freddie needs a platform to match Fannie Mae's SBA (service-based architecture) initiative and ALLTEL's Mortgage PhD.
