EK is excited to announce that it will become the sole owner of Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) through the purchase of Sun Chemical's 50% interest in this joint venture. 2. KPG will provide EK with an innovative product portfolio, a strong sales organization, and established relationships in the commercial printing segment, the largest market opportunity within the Graphic Communications industry.
3. Customers will soon be able to look at EK as the single source
for integrated solutions and bridge the gap between traditional and digital technologies in the Graphic Communications industry.
2. Graphic Communications Group - History: 1. In Sept. 2003, EK announced the creation of the Graphic Communications Group.
2. At that time, EK's business consisted of the Encad wide-format
printing business and two joint ventures, NexPress and KPG.
3. Since then EK has acquired: 1. The Scitex Digital business, now called Kodak Versamark. 2. Heidelberg's share of the NexPress business and its digital monochrome press business. 4. The Co. has incorporated EK's leading production scanning and global service organization into Graphic Communications Group and begun the process of consolidating service across all its Graphic Communications businesses. 3. Marketing: 1. EK has kicked off an integrated marketing campaign showing the unified pace to the industry. 2. Today, EK is announcing the plan to make KPG part of the Graphic Communications portfolio. 3. Through these actions, EK has created the broadest portfolio of products that serve the demands of the graphic communications industry. 4. Summary: 1. This transaction is expected to close in April.
S2. Business Opportunities (B.P.) 1. Product Portfolio: 1. No one else in the industry can claim the breadth of products or solutions that EK now offers. 2. EK's product line includes image scanners and document management systems. 1. It includes the industry standard in digital proofing. 2. It includes offset and digital plates and CTP systems. 3. EK has award-winning technology for wide-format inkjet printing. 4. The Co. has got the most robust (Indiscernible) platform for 4-color and monochrome printing, including the Digimaster product line and the NexPress 2100. 5. Through KPG, EK has a distribution agreement with Canon for the CLC1180 and the 5100. 6. The Co. has also got a direct imaging option with the DI-5643 (Phonetic). 7. EK has leading continuous inkjet technologies for high-speed, high-volume printing, as well as imprinting capabilities where it can combine those technology with traditional offset. 8.
