STAR
- The Senate-House conference committee approved last night the bicameral report on the proposed Power Sector Reform Bill. Sen. John Osmena, chairman of the Senate panel, and Rep. Melvyn Evalle, head of the House of contingent, described the approval as a historic one, paving the way for the restructuring of the country's industry.
- The House of Representatives unanimously approved last night President Arroyo's proposed P10.9-billion supplemental budget for this year.
- Economic growth slowed to 2.5 percent in three months to March owing to weak manufacturing output, an official said yesterday.
TODAY
- Various groups raised objections to the use of the military against the Abu Sayyaf, which are apparently linked with opposition to any possible help from any foreign government, especially the United States, whose congressman, Robert Underwood from Guam, called on President Arroyo in Malacanang and offered help to resolve the hostage crisis.
