CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 31 PRNewswire-AsiaNet - The Japanese Marine Self Defense Force (JMSDF) has awarded The BFGoodrich Company, through its trade representative Sumitomo Corporation, a contract to provide Long Range Optical Cameras.
The contract calls for delivery of Goodrich DB-110 cameras by the middle of 2002, with orders for additional cameras and peripherals to follow. They will be installed on modified P-3C aircraft.

According to Ron Hodges, Goodrich's President of Optical and Space Systems: "We're proud to be supplying this technology to the JMSDF. Our innovative product was selected because of its proven in-flight performance. We offer the JMSDF a low-risk, high-performance solution for long range reconnaissance."
The Goodrich camera system combines electro-optical and infrared imaging capabilities in a compact design that fits many different types of aircraft. The system produces extremely clear pictures day or night from long ranges. Goodrich also supplies DB-110 reconnaissance systems to the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence for its Royal Air Force Tornado reconnaissance squadrons.
