HITACHI, HK FIRM TO FORM B2B E-COMMERCE ACCESS JV
TOKYO - Hitachi Ltd. (TSE:6501) will tie up with Hong Kong-based network service firm ICC Asia Ltd to establish a joint venture that provides Internet access to multiple B2B (business-to-business) e-commerce markets, the Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer said Wednesday. The new venture, Equinox Solutions Ltd., will be launched in July with start-up capital of 3 billion yen (US$24.92 million). Hitachi will take a 34 per cent stake, with the remaining 66 per cent stake owned by ICC. Equinox Solutions will begin offering the service next January, initially to electronic and automobile parts suppliers in the domestic market and later expanding to the rest of Asia, the U.S. and Europe.
