If you paid to repair a GE, Proscan, or RCA TV set made between Nov. 1, 1992, and Jan. 31, 1996, you may be entitled to reimbursement as part of a proposed legal settlement. But you'll have to act quickly.
The settlement--arising from a class-action lawsuit against Thomson Consumer Electronics--covers repairs to defective tuners found in certain 19-inch and larger sets with a chassis number CTC 175 to 179 or CTC 184 to 189. Some 10 million sets may be affected. To submit a claim, you must call 877 491-9339 for a form, which must be returned (along with purchase and repair receipts and other documents) with a postmark no later than May 20, 2001.
