The holiday season is a time for giving and for those of us up North it's also a time to reflect on the past boating season.
This year I decided to try to walk the walk after talking the talk on life jackets. So many of my boating friends got inflatable life jackets as gifts this year from Lori and me. Considering these are people we care a great deal about, it seems fitting we give them something that may help keep them around longer.
I gave Lori an inflatable life jacket last year so this year she got a new stove for the boat. This sounds like an old joke but cooking is Lori's passion and she just couldn't love the new boat with a microwave-only galley.
The boat also got a present this year, a new Garmin GPS with the weather module from XM satellite radio. This is wonderful new technology that lets you see approaching weather in almost real time. Very cool.
