The slider rotates on a vertical axis, which causes it to move more laterally than a normal slider, says Arizona catcher Damian Miller. Kim's rising, 92-mph fastball won't overpower anyone, but it seems about 5 mph faster because of Kim's unusual delivery, Miller says.
Kim could be brutal if he works the two new pitches in and doesn't succumb to confidence problems, as he has in the past. "It's kind of scary to think if he has all four pitches," Miller says.
