Sometimes it simply is time to throw up your arms and say, "I've had it. I can't take it anymore." That feeling of frustration descends on coaches quickly when dealing with certain prospects.

However, there are some players, such as Penguins right winger Alexei Kovalev, who tease you with their talent and are worth the wait, even if eight seasons go by before an enormous collection of skills appears.

Kovalev sat on the edge of greatness, and then, suddenly, everything worked for him.

"He's one of the three or four most gifted players in the world," teammate Jaromir Jagr says. "I've said that for years. I don't worry about him."

Rangers left winger Adam Graves says: "Everyone talks about Mario Lemieux and Jagr, and there's nothing wrong with that. But Alex has always been a great talent. And if you have to beat Pittsburgh, you have to pay as much attention to him as you do to Mario and Jaromir."

Since mid-December, when Lemieux announced he was coming out of retirement, fans have paid more attention to the Penguins and just how close they are to making a legitimate run at the Stanley Cup. Aside from the defending champion Devils and the Avalanche, the Penguins are the marquee team to watch.

Bankrupt? Not the skilled and speedy Penguins.
