The adage "two's company, three's a crowd" does not apply to the digital artists involved in the Digital Exquisite Corpse Project. Since 1997, the trio--Burnell Yow, Larry Parkes, and David Walters--who have never met, have collaborated over the Internet on numerous works inspired by the surrealist parlor game Exquisite Corpse, in which participants contribute phrases that are combined to create poems and stories.
The Digital Exquisite Corpse Project was born when Yow, upon viewing Walters' art on the Web, suggested a collaborative project. Soon after, Parkes joined the endeavor. "The resulting work is frequently bizarre or dreamlike, possibly charged with humor, and is surprising and often poetic," says Yow.
