Optimized Product Creation from Engineous.(Brief Article)(Product Announcement)
Engineous Software's iSight program is what its developers like to call an "exploration engine." Using a suite of design study algorithms in conjunction with parameters and goals supplied by the user, iSight sifts through multiple design iterations to arrive at optimal solutions for product designs. It has been used to create items as disparate as cardiac pacemakers, boat propellers, and automobile windshields. The software can also be used as a problem solver--to design, for example, an airplane wing that is lighter and more fuel efficient while still structurally sound.
Of particular importance to manufacturers is the speed with which iSight arrives at optimal solutions. The programs whips through design possibilities far faster and less expensively than could be done using traditional means, and so helps manufacturers fulfill the popular goal of reducing time to market.
