SEOUL, July 2 Asia Pulse - The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and Korean exporters of polyethylene and mobile phones will defray the cost of Chinese garlic imports, government sources said.

Officials stressed Saturday that the 10,300 tons of garlic that would be imported by the end of August would all be shipped abroad to avoid disrupting the domestic garlic market.

The Korea Foreign Trade Association, the Korea Association of Information and Telecommunication and the private sector will foot two-thirds of the US$6.7 million bill, while the remainder would be covered by the agricultural product stabilization funds.
