MANILA, July 2 Asia Pulse - The defection Saturday of seven North Koreans to South Korea via the Philippines will not adversely affect the relations between Pyongyang and Manila which normalized ties last year, a Philippine Foreign Ministry official said Sunday.
In a telephone interview with Yonhap News Agency, the official said that his government allowed the North Korean defectors to stay in the Philippines on a humanitarian ground, predicting that the incident will not aggravate relations between the two countries.
