When isn't more better? More rice cakes, more boy bands and more slow drivers in the left lane all are bad. And it looks like you can add more NCAA Division I-A football members to that list.
That's the impression I got after the Division I Football Oversight Committee met recently to discuss a number of issues pertaining to the future of the sport, including possibly revamping the criteria for schools to meet and retain I-A status.
Among the proposed guidelines were these: A school must play at least five home games versus I-A foes; have at least 80 football scholarships; average at least 15,000 in attendance for home games; and offer at least 200 scholarships or a specific dollar-value equivalent for all sports. But not everyone is impressed with these ideas.
