In my February 1998 editorial, I suggested that Autodesk make future versions of AutoCAD "no-hassle" upgrades. The reason was simple: No-hassle upgrades benefit both users and third-party developers. Users want to upgrade on their own timetable, and developers don't like to rework their programs simply because Autodesk releases a new version of AutoCAD.
