`Dennis Dillon wrote of the Chucky Mullins tragedy in a way that made me cry openly. If I ever could be half the man Brad Gaines is ... my life could be termed successful.
--Bill Johnson, Petal, Miss.
A solemn tribute
The memory of Chucky Mullins is very much alive thanks to Brad Gaines, and readers are impressed with Gaines' devotion (TSN, May 28).
"I've just reed the story on Brad Gaines and Chucky Mullins. I admit to be being brought to that emotional point where the tears start to well up and you blink a couple of times to force them back," writes Michael Hewitt, Gervais, Ore. "I remember the incident well. I particularly remember Chucky's inspiring but short period in the public eye. I was impressed with the young man's behavior and attitude given circumstances that I did not believe I would have been able to bear up under--and he was still just a kid.
"I feel for Brad Gaines. He has shown himself true. I wish him only the best of luck. What a terrific article."
