BALTIMORE -- Suicide is the second-leading cause of death on college campuses, and academic staff should be trained to look out for the early warning signs of depression. Boglarka Szabo, M.D., said at a symposium on mood disorders sponsored by Johns Hopkins University.
College students are particularly vulnerable. "Just by the age that they're at, college students are at very high risk for mood disorders. They're away from home for the first time," she said. "There are many challenges facing college students."
