14 Academies That Teach
Over a period of a year, The American Enterprise sent its reporters to visit schools all across America. We assessed suburban magnets, gritty inner-city public schools, Catholic, Jewish, and evangelical Protestant religious facilities, New England boarding schools, military establishments, brand new charter schools, and age-old private academies.
Their educational methods and student populations vary enormously, but each of the institutions profiled below has fascinating things teach our nation as we struggle to improve our too-often mediocre and sometimes abysmal schools.
Our reporters were Martin Woostel, Eli Lehrer, Naomi Schaefer, Evan Gahr, Scott Walter, Andy Thomas, and Bob Sale. Here are their dispatches.
