The Tax Foundation has just released two more of its excellent studies documenting the effects of taxes on Americans.
Finding One: Total annual taxes paid in the U.S. now come to $10,447 for every man, woman, and child in the country, on average. That's far more than we pay for any other necessities of life like housing ($5,913), health care ($4,133), food ($2,713), transportation ($2,552), or clothing ($1,436). In fact, we now pay more in taxes than we do for food, clothing, and shelter combined.
