Amidst the excruciating division in the American electorate today, it appears the Right is holding its own:

* Gore's positions were"too liberal" for 43 percent of the electorate, while 34 percent of voters said Bush's were "too conservative."

* By 51 percent to 44 percent, voters preferred across-the-board tax cuts to targeted tax cuts.

* The percentage of the electorate describing themselves as "conservative" was 29 percent, compared to 20 percent for "liberals."

* The top issue among voters in 2000 was "moral values;' and 57 percent said America's moral condition was on ...
