AUSTRALIA'S HERON TO SUPPLY NICKEL HYDEROXIDE TO WMC REFINERY.
PERTH, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Preliminary discussions have begun between Heron Resources Ltd (ASX:HRR) and WMC Ltd (ASX:WMC) concerning the supply of a nickel hydroxide product to WMC Ltd's Kwinana nickel refinery.
The Kwinana refinery currently produces 60,000 tonnes a year of nickel, but could boost its capacity to 100,000 tonnes, with some of its additional feed potentially sourced from alternative sources, such as Heron's laterite deposits.
Heron managing director, Ian Buchhorn, said its Goongarrie resource was attracting wide industry interest as further drilling in the December quarter lifted the total inferred and indicated resource to 180 million tonnes at 1.05 per cent nickel and 0.08 per cent cobalt.
