The bitter rivarly between Port Charlotte and Charlotte High was on display at the Class 3A-District Tournament Tuesday night.
Charlotte earned bragging rights for the year when Jason Masters scored the game-winning goal in the 57th minute to give the Tarpons a 2-1 victory. Charlotte (9-7-1) will face top-seeded Brandon Thursday in the district semifinals at Sarasota's Dr. Gene Pillot Field at 6 p.m.
The loss was not taken lightly by Port Charlotte head coach Wayne Garbrandt, who refused comment after the game.
