Under the spreading chestnut twig ...
"We have 10 free flowering trees reserved for you," said a memo soliciting membership in The National Arbor Day Foundation. The mailing noted the "beauty and value ... shade-providing trees can add to your property" and said that the free trees would moderate temperatures and attract songbirds. "If you can't plant them all yourself, give some to others," it added. The web site, below, pictures people planting a tree. If it's one of the 10 free trees, however, those are awfully short people. As the memo and web site reveal--but far enough into their spiel that some consumers might not notice--these trees are 6 to 12 inches tall. Oops. Guess we won't be hanging the hammock just yet. Under the spreading chestnut twig ...
Note to Dunkin' Donuts.
We're happy that this spread doesn't hide its ingredients. Still, it might sound a wee bit more appealing if the preservatives didn't get equal billing with the strawberries. Just a thought.
