SEOUL, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - The Korean shipbuilding industry enjoyed a record boom last year, but much of the earnings were eroded by losses from funding support for affiliates, industry sources said Tuesday.
Hyundai Heavy Industries (KSE:09540) received orders of US$5.1 billion, up from $3.4 billion in 1998, and Samsung Heavy Industries (KSE:10140) registered 4 billion from January through November last year, up 82 percent from $2.2 billion in 1998.
