TEHRAN, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - Iran's Mines and Metals Ministry has announced that the export of minerals and metal products in the first eight months of the year (started March 20) rose compared to the same period last year.
The Public Relations Department at the ministry said 856,103 tons of iron rods, pipes and joints, iron sheets, iron bars and slabs, worth US$171 million, were exported in the first eight months of the year.
A 10.4 percent growth was recorded in the weight and 51.2 percent rise in terms of the value of steel products exported from the country in the first eight months compared to the same period the previous year.
Some 30,886 tons of anode and cathode copper, worth $53,587,210 were exported in the said period, showing a 9.7 percent decrease in terms of weight and a 8.2 percent rise in terms of value compared to the figures for the corresponding period last year.
Moreover, 28,550 tons of aluminum ingots, worth $39,970,000, were exported in the first eight months of this year. Increases of 128.5 and 130.1 percent were registered in the export of these products in terms of weight and value respectively compared to the same period last year.
