SYDNEY, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - The Australian share market has started the new year on an upbeat note, with global media group News Corp attracting early buyers, despite a softer US market.
At 1030 AEDT, the all ordinaries index was 31.1 points higher at 3185.0 and the S&P 200 index added 33.4 to 3239.6.
The all resources index gained 4.8 points to 1386.3, while the all industrials was 59 points higher at 5509.5.
On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was trading 30 points stronger at 3275.0 - a 54 point premium to the underlying index.
In New York on Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10786.85 down 81.91 points, cutting short a holiday rally as investors dumped laggard ...
