BANGALORE, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - The government of the southern state of Karnataka has decided to amend 'the Karnataka Shops and Establishments Act 1961' to exempt IT establishments from certain provisions of the act,including in working hours and holiday ceiling.

Minister for Information B K Chandrasekhar told reporters that a cabinet meeting today adopted a decsion to this effect accepting the demand of the IT industry, IT enabling services, bio-technology, Research and Development Centres.
