NEW DELHI, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - In a stark contrast to the previous few weeks' stance, the annual inflation rate remained static at the previous week's 8.01 per cent despite substantial fall in primary articles' price and a minute rise in the prices of manufactured goods.

The point-to-point inflation based on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for all commodities (Base Year: 1993-94 _ 100) stood firm above eight per cent and was only 2.89 per cent a year ago.

However, the WPI fell by 0.1 per cent to 157.7 from 157.8 in the previous week and up from 146 a year ago.
