NEW DELHI, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - General Motors India (GMI) has announced a 178 per cent rise in car sales at 7,140 units in 2000.
The figure compares to 2,561 cars in the previous year and surpasses its target of 7,000 units for the year.
During the year, the company sold 3,071 units of its premium mid-sized car the 'Astra', up 20 percent, against 2,561 units in 1999, according to a GMI statement.
Sales of the mid-size car 'Corsa', launched in early 1999, stood at 4,609 units, it said.
