Aaron Copland's film music is certainly less well known than his "Appalachian Spring," "Rodeo," or "Billy the Kid" ballets, and for most people his cinematic output is probably limited to Our Town, The Red Pony, and Of Mice and Men. This new Telarc disc brings together the music he composed for four other shows, all of the music premiered here.

The program includes over an hour of background music he wrote for the films From Sorcery to Science, The City, The Cummington Story, and The North Star. If you've never heard of them, you can understand why this music is making its first appearance on disc. None of it is particularly ...
